What is the TCAELC?

  • Tarrant County College District
  • Tarrant Literacy Coalition
  • Texas Workforce Commission
  • Texas Workforce Solutions – Vocational Rehabilitative Services (formerly DARS)
  • The Learning Center of North Texas
  • Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County
  • and various Tarrant County Civic, Religious, and Community partners

The purpose of this consortium is to provide educational and career enhancement training opportunities for adults in Tarrant County that may be struggling due to limited education.

What Classes Do you offer?

Through our education partners we provide:

  • Adult Basic Education (ABE) (Pre-GED) – These classes range from basic literacy classes that teach adults how to read to pre high school level material to help adults toward earning a high school diploma (GED)
  • Adult Secondary ASE (GED) – These classes help adults that are almost ready to take the high school equivalency test (GED) and prepare them to succeed on the test.
  • English Language Acquisition (ELA – ESL) – These classes help adults learn how to speak English.
  • Transitions / Dual Enrollment / Certificate Programs – These are programs for high level students that may not have earned their high school diploma yet, but have sufficient skills to be enrolled in a Trade or Certificate program through Tarrant County College and earn their high school diploma and a certificate in an employable trade

Who Can We Serve?

We can serve anyone that is over 18 and needs:

  • Help learning English, or
  • Help with basic education skills (Math, Reading, and/or Writing)

What Can We Do Together?

We can provide free classes at businesses and organizations contextualized for their employees or community.

We have a huge opportunity to work with individuals that need workplace related training in conjunction with language and/or basic skills training.

For example: We can provide English classes in conjunction with specialized workplace training like ServSafe, OSHA, CNA or other industry training that help improve your existing employees or prepare new ones.
