Robert Sturns
Robert Sturns dedication to economic and workforce development and his commitment to the citizens of Tarrant County resulted in his selection in 2025 as the Executive Director for Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County (WSTC), the local Workforce Board.
Role at Workforce
Mr. Sturns is responsible for overseeing over $135 million in employment, training and child care dollars to benefit businesses and citizens in Tarrant County. WSTC’s primary goal is to respond to the needs of employers and workers through locally designed market-driven workforce development initiatives. He oversees five (5) Workforce Centers located throughout Tarrant County that provide residents with no-cost tools and resources that empower and enable them to obtain employment in the career path of their choosing.
Experience
Robert is a proven executive leader with over 30 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Sturns has demonstrated excellence in consensus building, board governance, organizational strategy, collaboration, relationship management, and developing high performing teams. In his previous role as Economic Development Director for the City of Fort Worth, he had a successful track record of driving new capital investment within highly competitive environments resulting in over $6.4 billion of new investment and 34,000 jobs announced.
Robert holds a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University. In addition, he is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School Leading Economic Growth Program and proud former officer in the United States Army Reserve.
