SkillUp Tarrant County! Residents Offered over 5,000+ courses through FREE online learning platform

Tarrant County, Texas (February 22, 2022) – Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County (WSTC) announced today that they are providing Tarrant County residents free access to online career courses via Metrix E-Leaning System, through its “SkillUp Tarrant County” initiative. Starting immediately, Tarrant County residents can visit: https://workforcesolutions.net/job-seeker-services/career-training/#skillup to upgrade their skill sets.

“SkillUp® Tarrant County is helping us build a workforce ecosystem that supports positive economic development through services for job seekers and employers. It provides Tarrant County residents with an invaluable opportunity to expand their knowledge and learn new skills that appeal to employers in this current job market. Meanwhile, employers can use SkillUp® to create free online new hire training, as an affordable way to upskill their current workforce, and as an assessment and hiring tool,” said Judy McDonald, Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County executive director.

Tarrant County residents can explore career pathways, view local job postings, register for free online learning, and receive workforce services, whether an individual is looking for a first job, a new job, or to advance in their chosen field.

SkillUp Tarrant County lets residents know what skills employers are looking for and offers 5,000+ e-learning courses and 130 Industry Credential tracks related to those skills. The “Prove It” feature in Metrix offers assessments which can be used by job seekers to evaluate and document knowledge and skills in a given area. The Metrix System is accessible around the clock to anyone with internet access. People can work at their own pace through a variety of courses that teach both technical and soft skills; and users receive a personalized training plan.

Residents who sign up for a free account can earn certificates and digital badges, in areas such as business, information technology, manufacturing, customer service, retail, finance, and much more.
